New Yorkers looking to enjoy sunny fall weather should take advantage of Saturday, as remnants of Hurricane Isaias are expected to bring gloomy and rainy conditions to New York City on Sunday. According to the National Weather Service, meteorologist John Murray indicated that wet weather may begin early Sunday morning and will intensify as the day progresses.
The heaviest rainfall is forecasted for Sunday afternoon and evening, with accumulations of over an inch possible. There is a potential for thunderstorms during the night. Winds will also increase, with gusts ranging from 25 to 30 miles per hour, though this is not high enough to trigger a wind advisory. Murray warned that urban areas with poor drainage may experience minor flooding, and flash flooding is a concern, especially along coastal areas in Long Island’s South shore and lower New York Harbor. After a warm Saturday with highs in the 60s and 70s, Sunday is expected to feel cooler, with temperatures fluctuating around the low 60s. Fortunately, conditions are predicted to improve on Monday, with temperatures rising again to around 70.
