Columbus Day Parade returns to NYC on Monday, celebrating Italian-American culture

NEW YORK (WABC) — The 82nd Columbus Day Parade is set to take place on Fifth Avenue in New York City on Monday, October 12. This year’s event celebrates a remarkable 250 years of Italian contributions to America, focusing on heritage and tradition.

Eyewitness News anchors Sandra Bookman, Mike Marza, Kemberly Richardson, and Anthony Carlo will provide live coverage starting at noon. Ray Dalio, philanthropist and founder of Bridgewater Associates, will serve as this year’s Grand Marshal. The Columbus Citizens Foundation, which organizes the parade, also held a gala to raise scholarship funds and a Wreath-Laying ceremony over the weekend to honor first responders and civil servants. With nearly $40 million awarded in scholarships to students of Italian heritage, the foundation continues to empower the community, exemplified by first-year medical student Anthony Lisi, who recently received a scholarship.
