Authorities are examining an incident that occurred on Friday afternoon, involving a white Mercedes that allegedly sped through a red light near Holland and Allerton Avenues, hitting multiple vehicles and pedestrians. This collision reportedly took place shortly after 2:30 p.m.

According to law enforcement sources, the 81-year-old driver of the luxury vehicle struck two halted cars, which then moved into a group of pedestrians. Tragically, two women were killed in this event, while an additional individual remains in critical condition. A total of nine people were transported to Jacobi Hospital for treatment, with several still receiving care. Witnesses reported disturbing visuals of the impact, including pedestrians being thrown from their shoes. Investigators are considering the possibility that the elderly driver may have experienced a medical issue that led to the acceleration.
