Katie Zacharia will be the next White House press secretary

According to two White House officials and a source familiar with the matter, conservative commentator Katie Zacharia is likely to be appointed as the next White House press secretary, taking over from Karoline Leavitt.

Zacharia is presently a senior communications adviser for Trump Media & Technology Group, which operates President Donald Trump’s Truth Social platform. Earlier this year, she held a communications role at the Department of Homeland Security, as noted on her LinkedIn profile. The New York Times was the first to report on her potential selection.

Leavitt departed from her position in late August, and Fox News recently revealed that she had been hired as an on-air contributor. Amid the lead-up to the midterm elections, Trump has expressed concerns that his achievements are not being effectively communicated to the public, citing poor public relations. He remarked at a rally that while the country is performing well, the messaging has not been adequate.

Trump has not publicly commented on Zacharia’s forthcoming role, and further details regarding her start date remain unspecified. She is frequently seen on conservative media outlets, including Fox News and Newsmax, where she often defends the Trump administration. Zacharia resides in California with her four children and holds a law degree from Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, where she is involved with its dean’s council.
