Blue-Collar Manufacturing Jobs Increase as Trump’s Policies Take Effect

Key American industry seeing blue-collar jobs boom as Trump's re-shoring policies pay off

A recent report from the Council of Economic Advisors (CEA) highlights the resurgence of blue-collar manufacturing jobs in the U.S., noting the addition of 72,000 jobs in 2026. This change comes after a decline of 200,000 jobs during the last two years of the previous administration, often referred to as the Biden-era offshoring. The current administration’s focus on re-shoring and supportive tariff policies are credited with this job growth, according to the CEA, which advises President Donald Trump on economic matters.

Among the key initiatives is the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBB), which has provided incentives for U.S. companies to invest domestically. For instance, Jergens, an Ohio-based manufacturing firm, has expanded operations into Illinois and reported that 83% of its workforce is picking up overtime since the implementation of the OBBB. Similarly, Ketchie Inc. in North Carolina increased its workforce by 25% by utilizing funds to acquire new machinery following the OBBB provisions. Additionally, manufacturing wages have increased by 7.9% since January 2025, translating to nearly $2,500 more annually for workers when adjusted for inflation.
