Sophie Cunningham Claps Back at Column Suggesting Indiana Fever Move On from Her

Sophie Cunningham responded assertively to a column in The Athletic suggesting that the Indiana Fever should consider parting ways with her. In the latest episode of “No Hesitation with Sophie Cunningham & Drew Hanlen,” she stated, “Suck it,” when addressing the criticism. Cunningham emphasized that she no longer lets outside opinions affect her life decisions, saying, “if you’re going to live by the praise, you’re going to die by the hate.” The column in question claimed her outspoken views were detracting from the team’s focus on basketball.

Her co-host, Drew Hanlen, labeled the column an “absolute hate piece,” while insisting on discussing its basketball analysis. He pointed out that Cunningham ranked fourth among bench scorers in the WNBA and boasted a top-five status in three-point shooting. Additionally, he highlighted her impressive 60.8% effective field goal percentage. Cunningham noted that her impact goes beyond statistics, affirming, “No matter what anyone says to me, I’m going to continue to do me.”
